Cyber General Announces “Download of Dollars for Digital Safety” Campaign

By now it is likely that you have been exposed to at least one of the countless headlines and news reports regarding the devastating consequences stemming from irresponsible, dangerous, and/or malicious use of digital technology. It is even quite possible that you or somebody you know of has found themselves at the epicenter of a very serious and unfortunate situation due to poor digital judgment or a lack of digital common sense.

In order to prevent you and your (current and future) loved ones from facing any (current and future) negative and potentially life-altering consequences, the Institute for Responsible Online and Cell-Phone Communication (I.R.O.C.2 or I ROCK), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is nationally espousing the digital safety movement known as “2.1C” (21st Century Digital Safety, Responsibility and Awareness), and has been credited with proactively saving thousands of lives across the country through the nationally acclaimed, “I Rock Responsibility 2.1C Concert” series.

Throughout this upcoming holiday season alone, over 50,000 U.S. “digital” citizens will personally be exposed to this life saving information, arming themselves against digital disease such as sexting, sextcasting, cyber-bullying, cyber-stalking, and an overall lack of digital common sense. It is the mission of I.R.O.C.2 to ensure“2.1C” continues to be the primary tool or “vaccine” used by all digital citizens to proactively protect themselves, and their loved ones, against any and all current and future digital disease.

Today, our generation (young and old) are powering up their phones, computers, mp3 players, cell phones, video games and more, with each digital session presenting a myriad of unknown and dire risks. The dangers of digital disease are still largely unknown and evolving as fast as technology itself.

Today, many organizations are talking to kids and parents solely about existing trends, such as sexting and cyber-bullying. While the Institute applauds all initiatives to promote digital safety, I.R.O.C.2 is gravely concerned by the country’s knee-jerk reaction to the trend du jour once it hits the headlines. Talking to an audience about only sexting or cyber bullying is like talking to a smoker about only emphysema and asthma, neglecting to mention the myriad of other health risks such as lung cancer, cardiovascular disease, COPD and more. Really what we ALL are faced with is a lack of knowledge about proactive responsible use of digital technology. Digital disease is dynamic and continues to evolve at a fast-pace; therefore, our methods for diminishing the negative effects must be proactive and dynamic.

Therefore, the Institute has appointed a new soldier in the fight against digital disease — the Institute’s Cyber General. The Cyber General’s uniform message of “2.1C” is simple – without a proactive understanding of how to use all current and future technology safely, responsibly, and with awareness, digital devices are nothing more than weapons of self destruction.

As we progress into this new century, with a new and rapidly evolving digital way of life, the Institute and the Cyber General strive to ensure that everyone in our digital generation possesses the necessary information and mindset to make informed decisions when it comes to the responsible use of current (and future) technologies. Further, they aim to educate all of us as a globally digital community, to protect us from blindly finding ourselves at the epicenter of any (current or future) tragic or life altering digital disease. All you have to do is contact the Institute and schedule an “I Rock Responsibility 2.1C Concert” and you will be armed with the knowledge that will ultimately save your life. Further, you would be remiss not to review the myriad of education resources on its website (www.iroc2.org) such as the world’s first and only Digital Risk Assessment and 2.1C Safety Manual.

In order to continue to provide these relevant and dynamic programs for free to the world, the Institute’s Cyber General has launched the “Download of Dollars for Digital Safety” (“D3S”) Campaign. It is the hope of the Institute that this modest request of a $1 will ensure there will never be a financial barrier to this information, as everyone has the right to understand how to proactively utilize digital technologies safely, responsibly, and with proper awareness.

To do your part towards saving our rapidly evolving digital generation, simply visit the Institute’s website and click on the “Download of Dollars for Digital Safety” image to donate your (tax deductible) $1 today. — As an added and unique gesture of thanks, the Institute will actually tell you how your donation will be utilized in their mission; all you have to do is ask.
