(Trenton) – The New Jersey Education Association was honored on Saturday, April 17, 2010 with the “Responsibility 2.1C Award of Excellence” by the Institute for Responsible Online and Cell-Phone Communication (I.R.O.C.2). I.R.O.C.2, an organization on a mission to construct a global digital community free of negative and sometimes irreversible consequences resulting from poor digital judgment, was prompted to recognize the NJEA for their continous efforts to empower and educate teachers and students in New Jersey about how to identify, respond to, and stop the spread of digital abuse in their life and amongst their peers.
“We at the Institute for Responsible Online and Cell-Phone Communication commend the NJEA for consistently and proactively raising the importance of digital responsibility and awareness for both teachers and students at a time when [life] education is so very important beyond what can be learned from a text book.” Richard Guerry, the Executive Director of I.R.O.C2 said.
